Definition of Bill

If the customer owes some amount, a bill is a document that outlines that amount that is owed by the consumer for goods and services provided and received.

The bill is intended to serve as legal evidence for both the buyer and seller that the sale transaction took place.

Format of the Bill

There are two types of format -

  1. Tax on total - In this, tax is levied on the total amount.

  2. Tax on each quantity - In this, a tax is levied on each item.

Content of Bill

  1. Invoice Number

  3. Business Details

  4. Customer Details

  5. Description

  6. HSN/SAC Code

  7. Item Quantity

  8. Rate

  9. Discount on each item

  10. Terms & Conditions

  11. Grand Total
